A Song for a Quarter

We recently bought a LOT of discs on BMG. I realized during the purchase that I had not bought anything from BMG since college. I actually said yes to the Featured Selection. As a result of that, as well as my previous purchase of box sets, I was able to get 11 cds and 3 bonus dvds for $47. that's amazing! That's a little over $3 per disc, about $.25 per song. Here's what we ordered:

Hillsongs - Saviour King
Hillsongs - Mighty to Save
United - United We Stand (w/ bonus dvd)
United - All of the Above (w/ bonus dvd)
Gateway Worship - Living for You (w/ bonus dvd)
Jennifer Knapp - The Way I Am
The Temptations - Emperors of Soul (5 disc box set)

The Temptations box set is being shipped separately, so it will be a little bit before that comes, but we got the others in the mail this weekend. I've only listened to some of the cds, but my favorites so far are the Gateway Worship cd and Jennifer Knapp, but those were the givens. Saviour King was the featured selection, but I haven't listened to it yet. The rest of the Hillsongs and United cds are about as expected - some really good songs, some decent songs, and some lame/annoying songs.

Top 5 Songs I Bought These CDs for:
5. Mighty to Save (Hillsongs - Mighty to Save)
4. The More I Seek You (Gateway Worship - Living for You)
3. The Stand (United - United We Stand)
2. Lead Me to the Cross (United - All of the Above) I love playing this song at church, so it stirs up in me the feelings of power-filled worship settings.
1. Revelation Song (Gateway Worship - Living for You) Lauren at church has an almost identical if not better voice than Kari Jobe so I knew this would be great, but the male harmony singer is incredible and adds a lot to this song. This is a MUST GET song!

You know, the one thing that connects all of these songs besides the fact that they are songs we've done at church is that Lauren leads most of them. She's got such an incredible voice, it will be amazing to see what doors God opens for her. We've got a new keyboardist who is writing incredible songs. One of our drummers is the best I've heard. A friend of ours could be a professional violinist. It's just amazing to be surrounded by such gifted musicians and so many people that are passionate about worship God more than they are about promoting themselves.

P.S. There. I blogged.
