ABCLMNOP

Katy and I applied to ACMNP (A Christian Ministry In The National Parks) on Monday night. On Tuesday, they called us to tell us they had a position for us at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. We would work in basic park jobs (bellhops, clerks, etc.) throughout the week. On Sundays, we would lead a worship service with the rest of the ACMNP staff in the park for visitors. The special thing about this park is that we would also be leading the worship service for a local congregation as well. We need to decide very quickly whether or not we will do this, as the ministry starts there this weekend. We, however, have permission to show up as late as June 15, since we would have to move all of our stuff out of our apartment and into a storage locker.

That's the skinny. If you want the flabby, just ask.

Cabin Pressure

Yesterday was a long day of flying.

We got to Bozeman's airport a little before 2:00pm. Our flight was supposed to leave at 2:56(mountain time), but didn't leave until about 3:10. We got into Salt Lake City at about 4:30. After walking from one end of the airport to the other just to get to our next gate, I quickly went back to the food court to get a Whopper for Katy and I to split. They called our row about halfway through the burger, so I rushed quick to the bathroom before we got on the plane. We left Salt Lake City at about 5:35 for what our itinerary said would be a three hour flight. Once in the air, the pilot said it would be a two hour flight. When we were circling over Minneapolis, the pilot said that we would be landing about a half hour later than she had first thought because of the storms. We actually landed at 9:15(central time), after almost three hours in the air. We pulled up about 100 feet from the ramp and waited for a truck to taxi us in. We waited in that spot for an hour! The two-year-old in front of us, who had seemed cute the whole flight, seemed to hardly stop screaming. There was little airflow and the air got staler by the minute. All we could do was watch the rain pour down on the plane. As the pilot said that no planes were coming in or going out, I saw two planes taxied away and at least four planes land.

The signs in the airport pointed the wrong direction for baggage claim. We took the moving walkways and kept missing the tram. The baggage claim was packed with people but most flights were still waiting for their luggage. Our bag came out at baggage claim 13 even though the signs where cars pull up say that we should be picked up down by baggage claim 4. Needless to say, I wasn't looking forward to the 45-minute drive home.

One Worth Reading

Here is an interesting article on 8 attributes of God (and, indirectly, the names of God associated with each) exemplified in Psalm 23.

The Long Good Night

We sold the Buick. The car that took me to Disneyworld when I was a kid is now gone. I'd be surprised if it is still in one piece.

After a long story of how the buick got towed when it wasn't supposed to be towed, we got the car jump-started. It died as I pulled up to a gas station a block away. After four days of trying to figure out what to do with the car with no money, we finally found the only used car salesman in town that would buy that old of a car ('89 Buick LeSabre with about 190,000 miles). He showed us that the battery was completely dead, the alternator was probably shot, the brake fluid was almost completely empty (which means the brakes would have just stopped working in the middle of driving), the fuel and brake lines were very rusted (prbably the cause of the brake leak), and the support beam between the driver's door and the back door was almost completely rusted through (which means the car would have probably imploded in any accident). He gave us $150 for what he called "four wheels and a cd changer." We also sold it on the day the car's insurance was due, which saved us a couple hundred dollars as well.

Selling this car was a blessing in disguise, a four-day highly stressful disguise.

Anyone want a car?

We are in the process of selling/getting rid of the Buick LeSabre. If you're interested, let me know very quickly.

To Celebrate 4/20 . . .

Here is a link to a dictionary of current slang/"ebonics" that Katy found on a youth ministry website. I don't know what's more amazing - how many I knew or how many I didn't know. Enjoy.
