The Life Of The Unemployed

The pastor that we're living with says that it is typical for someone who is unemployed to go to bed late, get up late, and spend most days watching TV. So, at least I've got that going for me.

Top 5 Shows I've Watched For The Last 2 Months:
5. Project Runway (Who knew? It's amazing how I can become incredibly interested in something I would rarely find interesting before they make a TV show about it. My ranking: Michael, Jeffrey, Uli, Laura based upon the season and Uli, Jeffrey, Laura, Michael based solely on the last show.)
4. Scrubs (Hilarious. Always incredibly hilarious. If they made a show about what goes on in Katy's head, I'm sure it would be something like Scrubs.)
3. Law & Order (This has been one of my favorite shows for the majority of my life. Luckily, I could watch 24 hours a day if I flip enough stations.)
2. Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Criminal Intent is barely better than the original. Vincent D'Onofrio is hard to beat, and the majority of the show is about him and his over-the-top antics. The difference between CI and the original is that the lawyer in CI won't take something to trial until he's sure that he'll win.)
1. CSI (The original is definitely the best. No one can compete with Gil Grissom.)

Finally Figured It Out

As you can see (and by you, I mean me, since no one ever responds to my blog ever since I stopped blogging for the summer), I have updated the links section of my blog. Since I haven't done a Top 5 list in a LONG time, here is my first one since I've returned to regularly blogging.

Top 5 Links Of Interest:
5. Steve and Cathy Brewer (Tapestries of Life Ministries)
This is the website of the ministry that is building the largest orphanage in Mexico. The government has been predicting for years that the day that the doors open, the orphanage will be filled beyond capacity. Because the orphanage has been built entirely by volunteers, it has taken over a decade. With that in mind, I believe that the doors are set to be openned January of 2008. Katy and I had the privilege of helping out for a week last October. More amazing than the undertaking is the heart of the couple overseeing the project. Katy and I picked their brains every moment we could. Katy and I would like to go back some time, so if anyone is interested, just let us know.
4. Amazon Wish Lists
It's never too early to think about buying me Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, or just-because gifts. What says "I've been thinking about you" than the collection of early Church Fathers' writings?
3. Zerostars (Jason)
This is the webpage/blog of my brother-in-law's band, Zerostars. Special note: you can hear samples of their recent work on notlame.com. This made my top five list because it is good music, not just because of our relation.
2. Age of Aquariums
This is by far the best website visually for aquariums. Special note: click on the "Your Tanks" link, which will take you to the tank-of-the-month section of the website - absolutely incredible!
1. Heidi and Rolland Baker (Iris Ministries)
Is it weird to have a female role model? When I grow up, I want to be like Heidi Baker, who is the least like a grown-up of any Christian leader I know. As a result of her child-like surrender and obedience to God, she has helped to plant and oversee well over 5,000 churches in Mozambique and neighboring countries. I would love to spend some time in Mozambique ministering with Heidi and Rolland and Iris Ministries. "You make me want to be a better man."

How many places is this now?

We signed the lease on an aparment today. It is a two bedroom in Brooklyn Park. So, since we've been married we have lived:

1. One bedroom apartment in Forest Lake, MN
2. One bedroom w/ den apartment in Forest Lake, MN
3. Tiny cabin in Medora, ND
4. (transition time at parents)
5. (transition time at our pastors' house)
6. Two bedroom apartment in Brooklyn Park, MN

This will be our third apartment in our third year of marriage. Who says that you have to "settle down" when you get married?

Steps in the right direction 2

I've had a couple of interviews so far. Tomorrow I should hear back from most of them. There is a good chance that I will have a job, or at least be accepting a job, on Monday.

Katy started work on Wednesday at Dunn Bros. Tomorrow, she has to be at work at 5:30am, which will be pretty typical of her schedule. We appologize for making fun of everyone else who goes to bed before 9:00pm that we used to make fun of. I may be on the same schedule depending upon which job I get.

Steps in the right direction

Katy has been offered a position to work at the Dunn Bros. in Maple Grove. She will be paid more than we expected, working more hours than we expected, and being trained to move up quicker than we expected. A HUGE answer to prayer. She starts Wednesday. She was also offered another job, but will be declining that one.

I've had one interview so far. That means Katy has been offered more jobs than I've had interviews. I have two more interviews tomorrow.

History In The Making

Today was our first full day after the International Healing Conference was truly finished. It's amazing looking at our current circumstances and realizing that we will look back at this event as a major life-changing weekend. There will definitely be more blogs about this to come as I process through everything that we experienced.
