It's been awhile since I've been able to write, but there's big news. We have a new fish.
Our new fish has his own tank (he's in the new 10gallon). His name is Zebedee because he is a Zebra Angelfish. Well, he looks like a Zebra Angelfish and Gold Angelfish hybrid, but the Zebra is more noticable. He's incredibly shy and loses his coloration instantly when he gets scared. He's a little slow at swimming because he is pretty small so he doesn't swim in the current from the filter. This means out of every 5 pieces of food we feed him, he gets one because the others get swept into the current.
He is a beautiful fish with well-defined fins and great coloration. He's my new favorite.

More like Jesus, Less of Me
I now look more like the realistic Jesus and less like the pictures of Jesus we see everywhere. I have shorter hair and a big nose. The big nose has been there for a while (thanks Thoms) but I got a drastic haircut yesterday. Not drastic like the time that I cut lazerlines into the side of my head or drastic like the time I buzzed all of my hair except for the back (sweet mullet), but drastic like 6+ inches. It's so freeing. No longer do I have the frustration of hair in my eyes constantly. I can now go hiking without wearing a bandana. I can now take a shower at night and not need a bandana. And, we should save some money on curly-hair shampoo, conditioner, and gel. This must've been what Samson felt like when he got rid of Delilah...

One year and counting...
It's been one year. Sunday was our one-year anniversary. Sometimes it seems like that was so long ago and sometimes it seems like it was only yesterday.
Anniversaries are tough. You want to do something memorable but something that represents who you are. You want to do something anniversary-esque but something that's not cliche. All that and on a budget of close to nothing. Needless to say, we made it a whole weekend of festivities.
One of those activities was finishing Prince Caspian, the second of seven of the Chronicles of Narnia. Now onto the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Also, we(I) decided to finally spend one of my birthday gifts from two months ago on a new fish tank. Not the 55-gallon fish tank I've been coveting. We got another 10-gallon tank which sits directly under our other tank. It will be a temporary remedy for our Angelfish which needs at least 30 gallons, but may live alone temporarily in the new 10. The plan was to have the 55 when we moved into our new apartment, but the plan was also to have money to live on, so, with much shegrin(sp?) we decided to eat instead of have the 55.
Someday...

The King of Crime Scene Investigation Queens
There are now two shows that we watch regularly - King of Queens and CSI.
CSI has been a favorite for a while. Not the new spinoffs like CSI: Miami, but the original show. Of course, we have no idea what time CSI is on during the week, but we usually watch CSI Weekends, when it is on at 11:30pm on Saturday nights. Sure, we're tired at the 9:00 church service, but who isn't?
King of Queens has just recently joined our "regulars." A lot of that has to do with our limited channels, the limited amount of shows on the channels we get, and the limited amount of shows that are amusing of those limited amounts of shows. It also helps that King of Queens is on about the time that Katy is taking out her contacts and I'm sitting in bed watching whatever is on. And, thanks to King of Queens, Fear Factor reruns have been moved out of the "regulars" and into the "only when interesting" category.

The Art of Teenage Flirtation
After watching our students today at a swimming party, this blog came to mind:
When a boy says to a girl, "Man, you are so stupid," what he really means is, "Man, I sure am lonely without a girlfriend and I like the attention you give me when I insult you. It also helps me to not feel so bad about myself."
When a girl says to a boy, "man, you are so stupid," what she really means is, "Man, you are really stupid and stop annoying me. Also, stop being so lame and blatantly flirtatious."
When a girl says to a boy, "I don't really like my swimming suit," what she really means is, "I'm fishing for a compliment and it is your job to step in and give me one. don't you dare agree with me or I will think I look fat."
When a boy says to a girl, "I don't really like my swimming suit," what he really means is, "I hate how unflattering/uncomfortable my suit is. that's it."

I Miss Cycles
I miss what summers used to be. You work hard at something for a semester. You work hard at something similar for another semester. Then, you get to totally separate yourself from the responsibilities of school and put yourself into some other short term responisbilities for the summer.
There is a freedom that comes with cycles that I've lost now that I'm an @&^!+ (adult, sorry for using the A-word). There's no longer the anticipation of your current responsibilities being done. Now, all there anticipation is focused on the next vacation, the next end of a work project, the weekend, the end of the work day.
For adults, there's only the dumb cycles: the work day, the work week, the pay period, the fiscal year.
I guess I'm just frustrated because I have to get a second job. That means doubling the amount of dumb cycles and losing most of the good cycles that I was able to hold on to. Which reminds me, the internet is full of a lot of jobs, almost all of which are stupid. Why can't there be a website that shows me part-time jobs that are in my area without showing me thousands of fulltime jobs in the Cities that I have to sift through?

Movin' On Up
Sorry for the long absence of useless information, but I'm back with more.
We moved out of our old apartment into a slightly larger, slightly more expensive apartment.
Now we have:
two air conditioners
garbage disposal
dishwasher
outdoor pool
walk-in closet
den
larger dining area
my parents' old dining room table (vintage)
a much nicer community
I will probably have to slowly get back into blogging again, but I'll find something useful to say soon.
